A Step-By-Step Full Moon Ceremony Guide To Release What’s No Longer Serving You

ATTN Goddesses: Full moons are the time when we release what is no longer positively serving us and make space to receive our highest good.

Setting intentions & manifestations has become a regular practice of mine, and I particularly love moon rituals because they invite you to become one with our universe.

I know, I know… it sounds so LA. But hear me out.

Our ancestors survived based on the universe’s natural cycles and rhythms. The moon influenced hunting, gathering, tides, and time. The moon (and moonlight) is a sacred part of human life. Moon rituals originated in Egypt, Babylonia, China, and India, but I would argue that they’re even more important in our modern age when it’s so easy to tune out the energy of our environment.

The moon’s gravitational pull on the Earth is strongest when the moon is full, and the light of the sun illuminates the moon. The energy and light help you see things in powerful new ways and set plans for moving forward.

Hosting a full moon ceremony is super easy. You can do it with a group of soul-seeking bffs (I recommend sitting on pillow in a circle on the floor), or do it solo. The key is to stay present and keep an open mind to what the full moon reveals to you.

Here’s what you need:

  • paper
  • pens
  • sage or palo santo
  • lighter or matches
  • crystals (optional)
  • tarot cards or angel cards (optional)
  • an open mind & heart (required)

Full Moon Ceremony Steps:

  1. Set up a sacred space: light candles, play soothing music, & clear the energy with sage or palo santo

  2. Meditate for 5 minutes

  3. Write down a list of anything in your life that is no longer serving you that you want to release

  4. On a second sheet of paper, write down a list of your desires (what you want to call into your life)

  5. Read the first list aloud to the full moon as you visualize what you wish to let go of floating away

  6. Now that you’ve made space, read the second list out loud to the moon as you set your intention to be open to your desires coming into your life & visualize the new actions you’re going to take

  7. Close by reading cards or taking a salt bath

Most importantly, have fun with it! Feel free to adapt this full moon ritual based on your needs and intuition. This should be a joyful, cleansing experience!

Afterward, notice how you feel. I tend to feel lighter and prepped to move forward with clarity and abundance.
